Kallestewa Dance Group

Zuni, New Mexico

The Kallestewa Dance Group from Zuni, New Mexico is under the leadership of Mangaysha Kallestewa. The group was started by the love and interest of his son, Allen Kallestewa, at age 5. Allen was amazed and asked his father to sing. He asked his cousins if they wanted to dance, and all were interested. Since then, they have been dancing for 13 years. The dance group dances a variety of social dances like the corn dance, deer dance, rainbow dance and harvest dance. The Kallestewa dance group made their debut in 2011 at their Zuni tribal fair. They have since been invited to perform at art shows, conferences, and events around the state. The Group hopes to travel to share their talent and culture that treasure from the beautiful Zuni Pueblo.
